Catch up

There are a couple new videos on youtube, use the link in the previous post to see them. I finally loaded pictures from the camera onto the computer. (It's been 3 months.) Um... has anyone else noticed that time is passing about ten times faster than it did 4 years ago? I think it speeds up exponentially with each kid. It's a good theory. Anyway, in the last 3 months we had visits from Kendall grandparents and Grandma Quincy, Dean turned 3, we also had Halloween and Thanksgiving. I can't say that we documented the events very well, but here is our pitiful bunch of pictures.

Dean was a race car driver for Halloween. Someone gave me the costume last year. It worked well since he is all about "Cars" and Lightning McQueen.
Jane was a slob for Halloween. Don't know if you can call it dressing up...
Okay, actually she wore a flower fairy costume which was very cute, but she didn't want to wear it all day. That is the only picture I have of her Oct. 31. We went trick or treating at IKEA with the Quincy kids. Dean and Syd were thrilled to play together and Jane had fun, too.

I imagine this photo is of Dean telling Jane what to do. He does it exactly in my style, voice inflections and everything.

He loves suckers.

Dean was thrilled with candles this year. I really wished he could play with the flame. He tried to touch but decided it was too hot.

He blew out the candles about 10 times. I think the cake was covered in his, you know, love. Dean didn't even eat it. I didn't make it gluten free. He could care less. He didn't even eat his rice krispie, just the ice cream. That boy is not into food. Paul and Emily got to be part of this little party. Seems like we don't see them nearly as much as I'd like. Goes back to the ridiculous speed of time.

I got him this tool set. A boy can never really have too many tools. At least James can't seem to get enough of them.

Dean got a second birthday party. Grandma Quincy threw this one for Dean and Sydney. She even made a gluten free cake. Here is Dean sneaking a candy off the cake:

He blew these candles out a few times, too.

Sydney was less enthusiastic.

I know girls are supposed to do this with their mom's high heels. I almost never wear high heels, so Jane had to settle for Dad's flip-flops.

Grandma Quincy gave Dean this Awesome gear set for his birthday. I thought it was something he'd grow into and need a lot of coaching to do. I was extremely wrong. He builds things like this almost every day with no help outside of separating some tight connections. I'm pretty proud. What a little brain!

They were doing some work on the high tension power lines in front of our house. Dean was thrilled. He would stand out there and watch then run in to tell me what was going on. When the truck with the big spool of cable pulled in and they connected it to the pole, he was so excited his words were running together-- dancing around. Then he ran back out to watch.

For the record, we had Thanksgiving with Jason and Nicole. It was a success. To everyone's surprised I managed to make a pretty decent pumpkin pie. it wasn't cute, but it was tasty. (James ate the whole thing almost single-handedly). Similar story on my rolls. They were ugly and tasty. Ah, well, maybe I'll try again someday and with practice master this cooking business.

  1. Yes!! Such a great surprise to find these pictures today! My favorites are Jane in the flipflops and Dean so into the construction work! Congrats on the pie and roll success! No one cares what they look like, if they taste good!!
